Hazwoper 40 Hour Course

OSHA Training Course

HAZWOPER 40 Hour is required for employees working on a project consisting of Uncontrolled Hazardous Waste Operations.

This course is specifically designed for workers who are involved in clean-up operations, voluntary clean-up operations, emergency response operations, and storage, disposal, or treatment of hazardous substances or uncontrolled hazardous waste sites. Topics include protection against hazardous chemicals, elimination of hazardous chemicals, safety of workers and the environment and OSHA regulations. This course covers topics included in 29 CFR 1910.120.

Q: What is the difference in the 40hr Hazwoper and 24 hr Hazwoper course?
A: A supervisor who isn’t actually handling the hazardous waste would generally take the 24 hour hazwoper course. In addition there is a one-day required jobsite training which is typically provided by your employer. Someone actually handling hazardous waste will generally need the 40 hour Hazwoper course. For people taking the 40-hour course, there is an additional 3-day jobsite training which is typically provided by your employer and an additional 8-hour hands-on classroom training that must be taken in person.  Taking the 40 or 24 hours of online training at your convenience greatly reduces the amount of time you have to spend in classrooms in person.
